What is the course about?
This course takes Learners with no prior experience of safeguarding to a Level 2 competency, required for those that have regular contact with adults at risk. It covers the following topics:
- Overview: The concept of safeguarding adults in a charity or VCSE setting, including making safeguarding personal, mental capacity and the regulations and guidance that relate to adults at risk in each of the UK nations.
- The 5 R's of Safeguarding: How to Recognise the different types of harm that someone can suffer, how to Respond to concerns, how to Record and Report these concerns, and how these concerns will be Referred to the relevant authorities.
- Different Types of Harm: Covering the main types of harm that an adult at risk can suffer; physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, neglect, self-neglect, financial or material abuse, discriminatory abuse, modern slavery and organisational abuse. Also additional topics such as Prevent and forced marriage. Recognising the signs and who is most at risk.
