To provide an introduction to Online Safety for those that work with children and young people.Detailed description
Target Audience
Staff and volunteers working at introduction level, who work with children and young people.
Prior Learning
Participants should already have attended the Introduction to Safeguarding Children course in the last three years. No other prior knowledge or learning is assumed.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training, participants will:
· Understand what is meant by Online Safety and why it is a safeguarding issue and understand some of the relevant legislation.
· Be introduced to some of the different ways in which children and young people use digital technologies and access the internet.
· Understand some of the potential risks associated with digital technologies and the internet and to be confident in talking to others about these risks.
· Have an awareness of some of the actions that can be taken to minimise online risks and where to go to for further support.
Learning Methods
This is an interactive face to face session which includes presentations, discussions and small group exercises.
The cost for this training will be dependent on whether you are a Safer Member and still have any of your 2 free places left. If you have already used your free spaces then the cost would be £20 per delegate. The cost for non-members is £40 per person.
