Summary

For those who don’t have direct experience, the world of prison and probation can be a confusing and intimidating place.

Detailed description

What is this course about?

Many volunteers and staff in the charity sector will encounter people accessing their service who have spent time in prison, and the impact this can have on multiple aspects of their lives. For those who don’t have direct experience, the world of prison and probation can be a confusing and intimidating place.

The Caring for Prison Leavers Course provides a straightforward, beginner’s approach to the Criminal Justice System, and the challenges faced by many people when they leave prison. It gives staff and volunteers the tools they need to provide meaningful, person-centred and trauma-aware support to prison leavers – not to mention the chance to ask all the questions they’ve always wanted to know about prison, but been too afraid to ask!
