Summary
Aim - To enable staff and volunteers to develop an awareness and understanding of safeguarding issues and processes, and how these relate to their organisation.Detailed description
Target Audience
Staff and volunteers working at introduction level who have not yet attended any Safeguarding Training.
Prior Learning
No prior learning or knowledge of Child Protection issues is expected.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the training, participants will have:
- An understanding of the different ways in which children and young people can be harmed and the possible indicators of abuse.
- An awareness of the legislation and guidance underpinning safeguarding.
- Identified personal attitudes and beliefs and their impact on the recognition and reporting of safeguarding concerns.
- An understanding of the appropriate processes to follow when a possible safeguarding concern is identified.
Learning Methods
This is an online training session which includes presentations, group exercises and discussions.
Courses links and details will be sent out a few days before the training.
The cost for this training will be dependent on whether you are a Safer Member and still have any of your 2 free places left. If you have already used your free spaces then the cost would be £20 per delegate. The cost for non-members is £40 per person.

The Safer Programme provides advice, information and training on all aspects around safeguarding children, child protection, policies and procedures, primarily to the voluntary and community sector, but also to the statutory and private sector.
